The impact of social support on postpartum depression in Asia: A systematic literature review

Postpartum depression (PPD) is a major public health problem. Consolidated evidence of the impact social support on PPD has been well documented especially, in high-income countries. There no recent comprehensively synthesized same solely concentrated Asian continent. This review aimed to identify countries from current available evidence. An electronic database search CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Embase, and MEDLINE 2012 2022 was conducted according PRISMA statement through September 2022. Disease terms included “Postpartum depression”, “postnatal “perinatal “peripartum depression”. The prevalence ranged 3.9% Turkey 67.3% Iran. study demonstrated importance reducing risk PPD, especially partners. Immigrant women had higher than local citizens. that postpartum cultural practices buffered for by giving adequate care. negative sides these were evident studies mentioned women's relationships with their mothers-in-law. differ across Social support, close relatives protective factor against PPD.
